Adopt a Domestic Short Hair / Mixed

Domestic Short Hair / Mixed Cat

Tatum the Cat needs a home

Tatum is a big scoop of orange sherbet--sweet, refreshing and melts when you hold her! She's a little bit o' honey with a story. Tatum has suffered with a still-undiagnosed health challenge since she was quite young. Her face and ears were chronically inflamed and weepy and her nose is always stuffy. Her breathing is very raspy. Her owners went looking for answers and decided it was in her best interest to go to a reputable rescue group who would provide the specialized care that she needed. Turns out, the solution wasn't that easy. Several vets and a dermatology specialist have been unable to conclusively diagnose her but, through trial and error of medications, dietary management, and controlled environment, we appear to have found an effective balance. She must be in a flea-free home and cannot be exposed to fungus. The current vet that she spent weeks with believes she has an auto immune disorder called Pemphigus. Tatum can go symptom-free for a good string of months but can have a flare due to unknown causes. The successful adopter will be prepared to provide prompt intervention should old symptoms resurface or new symptoms emerge. She's TOTALLY worth it! She will more than likely live on a low dose of steroids for life and will need injections when she does have a flare.

To apply to adopt this pet please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at http://streetpaws.org/adoption-application/. This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Our adoption fee is $100 for all of our cats. They have been given age-appropriate vaccinations, are spayed/neutered, feline leukemia and feline aids tested, dewormed, have received flea prevention and micro-chipped.
